Tsawwassen is a suburban community with a rural atmosphere located within the Municipality of Delta, which is composed of three distinct communities including Tsawwassen, Ladner and North Delta. The name Tsawwassen comes from the North Straits Salish language (səˈwɑːsən) meaning “land facing the sea” as the community is located on a peninsula on the south west corner of Delta.
BC Ferries Terminal is located just minutes from Tsawwassen Mills, which connects Vancouver and the Lower Mainland to Vancouver Island (Duke Point, Nanaimo and Swartz Bay, Sidney-Victoria) and the Southern Gulf Islands (Galiano Island, Mayne Island, Saturna Island, Pender Island, and Salt Spring Island).
